Preparing the older sibling for the birth of the new baby
Days are passing by so quickly with two little ones.
Mum is still here and although she is doing almost all of the chores,I can hardly have sometime. I am either breastfeeding or changing the baby or I am spending some time with Defne.The weather is still very cold here so most of the time we are at home.Can't wait for spring now.
My heart fills with joy when I see Defne interacting with Derin.She enjoys singing to him. She tries to do her best to soothe him when Derin cries.
During my pregnancy we talked a lot about the new baby.About how our lives will change with the birth of the baby,what is it like being a big sister and how she was a baby once,how we will cosleep altogether, how mummy will also breastfeed the baby and how we will sling him..I had bought a few books to prepare Defne to being a big sister.I really think that these books were helpful.
I am a big sister The big sister tells about the advantages of being big and how she is interacting with the new baby.The only thing I don't like about this book is that the baby is bottlefed and breastfeeding is never mentioned at all.
Hello Baby is one of the most beautiful books I have seen.It tells the story of a home birth.So especially useful if you are planning a home birth. The illustrations in this book are beautiful.
On Mother's Lap is another book we enjoyed reading. A small Eskimo boy discovers that Mother's lap is a very special place with room for everyone.
Another nice book is The New Baby Sticker Book from Usborne First Experiences Series.
